Last month, we ran a story about the The Shocking State of ICU Sections in Hospitals Across Bungoma County and her environs.
In the expose, we mentioned the very few facilities that are equipped with ICU section with the Bungoma County Executive in charge of Health Dr. Anthony Walela confirming to this publication that Lifecare Hospital is the only facility in Bungoma with a fully-equipped ICU department.
We took the initiative and paid a visit to the facility, located 700 metres off the Musikoma Highway.
The ICU Unit at the facility has a capacity of 27 beds divided into three – the neonatal ICU, the surgical ICU and the medical ICU.
All the sections are manned by a highly qualified and experienced medical team under the leadership of resident ICU Intensivist Dr. Arun Kumar.
Dr. Kumar is assisted by several other qualified full-time ICU medical staff who keep watch on patients throughout 24/7 to ensure maximum concentration on the patients.
The good news is that the Hospital is NHIF accredited and this enables those under approved scheme to access ICU services at Lifecare Hospital.
The medical staff here examines the condition of the patient before recommending on the proper action to save the patients life.
As if that is not enough, once the patient is discharged, the medical staff make a free constant follow up to determine the progress of the patient and provide proper advice in the course. This make patients to never feel neglected by the hospital at all.
Indeed, the fully installed modern equipments like Monitors and ventilators,Fluid warmer, Infusion and fluid pump, MRI 1.5 Tesla, CT 16 slice, Endoscopy, ECHO, among others and the hygiene at the facility depicts a kind of hospital that is determined to witness a health community.
